What happened and what to do

In its October 19, 2026 threat intelligence report, Check Point Research describes breaches affecting more than 1 million Texas residents and approximately 11.18 million Burger King Japan app members. It also reports unauthorized access to environments at at least 173 organizations using compromised credentials, attacks on connected refrigeration controllers at French supermarkets, and patched vulnerabilities in LiteLLM (CVE-2026-35029 and CVE-2026-59823). In controlled experiments, repeated changes in peer agents’ behavior raised one agent’s rule-violation rate from 44% to 98%. CERT-In also reported access to enterprise systems involving autonomous agents, exposed credentials and misconfigured cloud services.

To address risks of this kind, a company can inventory AI gateways, integrations, credentials and connected systems; apply relevant patches; restrict privileges; and monitor access and configuration changes. For collaborative agents, it can test policy compliance under peer influence and log decisions and actions for review. A sound response starts by mapping exposure and prioritizing controls according to the systems and data involved.
